Swedish Massage

A classic massage is also called a Swedish massage or a sports massage. It is more of a generic term. The goal of these classical forms of massage is to relieve tension or muscle stiffness and to promote blood circulation. For certain medical conditions, such as chronic neck pain or headaches, it is even helpful to visit the masseuse at regular intervals.

Also as a partial body massage

The classic massage does not necessarily have to be performed as a full-body massage. It can also be applied locally to problem areas, such as the neck, shoulders, back or legs and feet.

The hand grips

There are five different hand grips, which are usually applied.

  1. Very pleasant and relaxing is the stroking, usually with the help of oil.
  2. To relieve tension and stimulate blood circulation, the muscles are kneaded with the fingers or the muscle is pressed on the lower bone.
  3. Hardening is released by circular movements on the muscle, friction is created in this way
  4. To promote peripheral blood circulation, tapping or beating movements are made with the hand, the edge of the hand or the fingers
  5. Vibrating movements of the hand or fingers, which create a muscle tremor, have an antispasmodic effect.

Not always healing

Classical massage or massages in general are not recommended in cases of feverish diseases or problems with blood vessels and skin diseases. In these cases, massage can have a counterproductive effect on well-being and aggravate health problems.

Since a classical massage makes sense especially in cases of discomfort and if you are looking for a healing effect, you should make sure to choose a therapist who has the necessary professional training. After all, it is a form of medical treatment.
