A virus turns the world upside down

There is a good argument about how dangerous the Covid-19 virus really is and whether the lock-down measures were too much or too little. When following interviews with many "experts", one can almost see that even there the assessments were sometimes very different or, as it turned out afterwards, conclusions were drawn based on incorrect or incomplete data.

As a fact, one can see that people are infected with Corona and a certain number of them die. To be fair, however, it must be noted that this has also been the case with other viruses in the past and will potentially also be the case with future viruses. What may be insidious about Corona is that many infected people do not notice anything and do not show any symptoms - but in this state they are still (according to the current state of knowledge) contagious.

It is difficult to react appropriately

Authorities are under great pressure in such situations and will never be able to please everyone. In addition, political circles want to take advantage of the moment to push through their agenda. In Germany, for example, arch-conservative circles wanted to take the opportunity to ban prostitution completely.

From the point of view of the tradespeople, which includes massage service providers, such lock-downs are of course bad. For many, it means having no income for an uncertain period of time and being effectively banned from the profession. Simply finding another job quickly, as some people have suggested in forums, is usually not realistic. Unemployment benefits are also only available in certain constellations.

Some masseuses, however, have been creative and have, for example, offered sexual counselling via online sessions. Others went a little further and worked as webcam models.
Restrictions must be limited

While the lock-down measures initially met with widespread understanding, it was soon realised that eternal quarantine could cause completely different health problems for people. Simply switching off daily life can only be a short-term solution.

In Switzerland, the authorities decided relatively early that offering personal 1:1 services pose a manageable risk in terms of virus spread. Thus, hairdressers, beauty salons and also (therapeutic) massages were allowed to reopen at the end of April. In the meantime, also erotic massages and Tantra may be offered again in Switzerland, while in neighbouring countries political discussions are still dragging on.

What do we learn from this crisis?

Firstly, we learn that we have to live with a new understanding of hygiene. Surprisingly, this has also its positive sides. Especially in places where intimacy plays an important role, it is also important that the environment is clean. Freshly disinfected couches, utensils and sanitary facilities for every customer not only limit the spread of viruses but bacteria in general. Also, you might think twice before offering or visiting a massage if you do not feel very well.

Secondly, we learn that there can be situations where the main source of income (temporarily) dries up. Even if it is easier said than done, it may be useful to consider a Plan-B.

Massages promote health

Especially therapeutic massages are health-promoting and strengthen the immune system. But also purely sensual massages can contribute to this, because an orgasm not only leads to a feeling of happiness but also has positive effects on the body's own defences. Add to this a little fitness and healthy food and the body is ready. Because the next virus will come and it makes sense if there is at least the chance to fend it off. Let us therefore not let the joy of life be taken away from us.
